ANKARA (Scrap Register): Turkish HMS 1/2 80:20 scrap import average prices (CFR Iskenderun Port, Turkey) advanced by $4 a ton week-on-week to $229 a ton in the week ended July 24, as per the latest figures from the Steel Index.
According to TSI, daily benchmark index for deep-sea Turkish imports of HMS #1&2 80:20 gained $6 a ton from last Friday to end the week at $233 a ton CFR Iskenderun port.
The market has rebounded swiftly from a series of US sales in the low $220/t range completed last week. This came as mills regained their appetite for scrap, having seen prices drop some $25/t since June.
Domestic Chinese billet prices also jumped up by $20/t late last week, but these prices have reportedly now been dropped again as demand was eroded.
